Editorial policy: how we research, fact-check and update

Creators read our pages on one of their worst days. That is why we hold ourselves to standards closer to a newsroom than to a marketing blog.

1. Sources we use

In this order of priority:

  1. Primary sourcesYouTube Help Center and policy pages, YouTube Terms of Service, Google’s Transparency Report, statutes and regulations (for example the EU Digital Services Act, Section 230, the DMCA), regulators and official dispute bodies, published court decisions.
  2. Reputable secondary sourcesEstablished news and industry media, academic studies, official statements by YouTube staff (for example TeamYouTube).
  3. Community signals – clearly labelledPatterns reported by many creators (for example in forums) are described as such, never presented as fact.

2. What every page contains

  • A short, direct answer at the top.
  • A list of sources at the bottom, with links where possible.
  • A “last updated” date. We review core pages at least monthly and whenever YouTube changes a policy or form.
  • A clear statement of limits: what we do not know, and when you need a lawyer.

3. What we never publish

  • Invented statistics, success rates or processing times.
  • Fake testimonials, reviews or case stories. (We currently show none – we would rather show nothing than something false.)
  • Guarantees of reinstatement.
  • Instructions to circumvent a ban or deceive YouTube.
  • Names of private creators or details that could identify them without consent.

4. Independence

We are not affiliated with YouTube, Google, any law firm or any recovery service. We do not accept payment for coverage, links or recommendations. We do not receive referral fees from lawyers. How we fund the site is explained on how we make money.

5. Legal content

We explain legal rules in plain language so you can understand your options and talk to a lawyer efficiently. This is general information, not legal advice. Where the law differs by country, we say which country a statement applies to.

6. Corrections

If you find an error, email help@channelterminated.com. We check every report, correct verified errors promptly and update the page date. Significant corrections are noted on the page.

7. Use of AI

We use software tools, including AI, for research support, drafting and translation. Every published page is checked against the cited primary sources before publication. We do not publish unreviewed AI output.
